Ilham Ahamed

Chartered Accountant, Board Member - Australian Parents Council

Professional Bio

lham is a Non-Executive Director and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). She is a qualified Finance Professional who serves on the board of Australian Parents Council and recently retired from the board of one of Queensland’s largest independent schools. 
 
Ilham is a Big Four qualified Chartered Accountant with an MBA (University of Manchester) and has extensive industry experience, having worked in the luxury goods, automobile, dairy products, development financing (NFP) sectors and also in assurance services as a practicing auditor and accountant. These roles span Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Australia. She combines strategic, operational and finance experience with an in-depth understanding of stakeholder engagement, risk management, financial oversight and cultural diversity. She possesses strong analytical skills, extensive technical knowledge, outstanding communication skills and is highly successful at building relationships through integrity, empathy and lived experience in different countries and diverse cultures.
 
Ilham enjoys presenting and public speaking and has served as a News Anchor and Program Presenter on national television. She also holds a Teacher’s Diploma from Trinity College London in Speech & Drama, Theatre Arts and Communication Skills. 

Ilham participated in the case study related to Parental Self-reflection on Values and Intergenerational Exploration; her contribution from a parent's perspective was extremely insightful and  valuable. She is the mother of two active girls, one in the final year of schooling and the other who just commenced high school. Ilham believes that values are an integral part of who we are, guiding our decision-making and impacting our actions as we navigate through life. They define us as a person and also influence and empower us in various aspects of parenting, including in career-related conversations with children.
